About Me

I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 25 years of clinical experience across the NHS and in private practice. I spent most of my NHS career working within GP practices in East London and also managing a team of psychological therapists working in GP surgeries. I worked closely with GPs myself, supporting them in managing clients with psychological issues and also provided time-limited therapy to adults. Often this was a person’s first experience of seeing someone for psychological support. As a result, I am particularly skilled at working with clients who have never seen someone to talk to about psychological issues before; I understand how difficult it is for someone to see a psychological therapist for the first time.

As an experienced therapist I bring many therapy skills and practical strategies to enable me to provide evidence-based practice. I am particularly interested in the systems people are part of, the positions they hold in these systems and the impact of being in these positions has on them. However, during my work, I draw from many different psychological approaches which mainly include:

  • cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT),

  • family therapy,

  • brief solution focused therapy,

  • psychodynamic therapy.

Each person and situation is unique and as a Clinical Psychologist I have been trained to offer a holistic, effective approach which is tailored to the needs of each person I see. Some people find that being able to talk to someone who is not involved in a situation and understand more about how a problem has come about and is maintained is helpful in itself. I aim to help support whoever I am seeing in the way that we both agree would be most beneficial, working collaboratively towards the goals you set for the work together.
